Independent contractor status
By applying to and performing work through Knights of the Blue Collar™, you confirm that you are an independent contractor. You are not an employee, agent, partner, or representative of Knights of the Blue Collar. Nothing in these terms creates an employment or agency relationship.
No employment relationship
We do not control how, when, or where you perform your work. You set your own schedule, methods, and tools. We do not provide benefits, paid leave, workers’ compensation, or tax withholding. You are free to accept or decline any referral.
Licenses, insurance, and permits
You are responsible for maintaining any licenses, certifications, permits, and insurance (including liability and, where applicable, workers’ compensation coverage) required for the work you perform. You agree to provide proof of these on request.
Background-check consent
By applying, you consent to a background and reference check as part of our review process. We may verify your identity, trade experience, and work history before approving your application.
Sole liability for your work
You are solely responsible for the quality, safety, legality, and completion of any work you perform. Knights of the Blue Collar is not liable for your work. You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims arising out of work you perform. See our Disclaimer of Liability for the full terms.
Taxes
You are responsible for your own federal, state, and local taxes, including self-employment tax. You may receive a Form 1099 where applicable. Knights of the Blue Collar does not withhold taxes on your behalf.
Conduct & quality standards
You agree to perform work professionally, safely, and in compliance with all applicable laws and codes. You will communicate honestly with customers, honor agreed scopes and timelines, and address defects in your own work at no extra charge. We may remove you from the platform for serious or repeated failures to meet these standards.
Payment
Payment terms are agreed directly between you and the customer. Knights of the Blue Collar does not collect, process, or guarantee payment. We may facilitate introductions but are not a party to your payment arrangement.
Termination
Either you or Knights of the Blue Collar may end this relationship at any time, with or without cause. Ending the relationship does not affect your responsibility for work already performed or agreed.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in New York.
